Dry Needling
Dry Needling or Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) is an effective method in the treatment of chronic pain associated with shortened muscles and/or neuropathies.
Dry Needling is similar to traditional acupuncture in that a very fine needle is inserted into certain points in a muscle.
Dry Needling focuses on releasing shortened muscle which press on and irritates the nerve. Neuropathic pain occurs when a nerve becomes supersensitive to stimuli that normally would normally be interpreted as harmless.
Physiotherapists often use Dry Needling along with traditional treatment techniques to maximize the amount of healing in the body.
